Conveniently located to serve the areas of Beverly Hills, CA

An eyelid lift is a surgical procedure that can refine the appearance of your upper and/or lower eyelids by removing or repositioning excess skin, fat, and muscle. (1) Also known as blepharoplasty, this procedure is one of the most widely performed cosmetic surgical procedures in the country, with surgeons performing more than 120,700 eyelid lifts in 2024 alone. (2)
Our surgeons believe in delivering natural-looking yet transformative results that each patient can feel proud of. Dr. Ghavami received the First Place Presentation Award from the Texas Society of Plastic Surgeons Annual Meeting for his work on the ligaments around the eyes, which largely contribute to an aged appearance in the eyelids. (3) He has also received numerous national awards for describing some of the key anatomy of the eyelids and eyebrows, including the Gaspar J. Anastasi Award at the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) annual meeting.

About Eyelid Lifts
The areas around the eyes are often among the first areas to show signs of aging, which may include sagging skin, puffiness, or wrinkles. Also, the eye region is one of the first things others will look at as a sign of youth and beauty. An eyelid lift can correct these concerns and restore the appearance and function of your eyelids.
Our renowned surgical team can address either the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both simultaneously, allowing you to restore a smoother, tighter, and overall more rejuvenated appearance.
Benefits
Benefits of an eyelid lift include:
- Revitalized Appearance: Addressing loose skin around the eyes can restore a more youthful-looking appearance and restore balance across features.
- Lasting Results: The results of an eyelid lift last for several years, especially when patients maintain healthy lifestyle habits and stay proactive with suncare use.
- Elevated Self-Esteem: After seeing the results of their procedure, many patients report feeling more empowered and confident in their appearance.
- Natural-Looking Results: Our surgeons enhance natural features, proportions, and contours, ensuring your results are flattering.
Candidates
Candidates for blepharoplasty include most patients who experience sagging, fat herniation, or puffiness around their upper or lower eyelids. (4) Patients are typically older, although age is not a determining factor. Sometimes, it is just unfortunate genetics that leads to a similar appearance to the aging eyelids.
Anyone interested in an eyelid lift should be in good general health and maintain realistic expectations regarding the results of their procedure. Our surgical team will determine each patient’s candidacy during their consultation.
Personal Consultation
The first step to rejuvenating your appearance is attending a personal consultation at our office. During this consultation, your surgeon will meet with you to determine whether an eyelid lift or another procedure will be most effective for you. They will ask about your medical history, current prescriptions, concerns, and treatment goals. They will also perform a physical examination to assess your eyelids, as well as your overall facial anatomy.
They will use this information to create your tailored surgical plan, adjusting certain aspects to address each of your concerns. They may recommend additional procedures to enhance your results. They will answer any questions or concerns you may have—it is important that you feel empowered and confident in your decision!
To schedule this consultation, please contact us online or call (310) 275-1959.
Preparation
After scheduling your procedure, your surgeon will provide a detailed set of preoperative instructions. These may vary, but often include:
- Follow your surgeon’s instructions to stop taking blood-thinning medications or supplements
- Cease nicotine use and alcohol consumption in the weeks leading up to your procedure and maintain full cessation until fully recovered
- Prepare to take time away from your responsibilities and prearrange transportation home after your procedure
- Arrange for at-home care during your initial recovery from a trusted friend or family member
Procedure
Your surgeon can perform an eyelid lift procedure to address the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both. The procedure can be performed in-office with local anesthesia or, when lower eyelids and extensive changes are needed, in the operating room with general anesthesia.
Upper Eyelid Lift
When performing an upper eyelid lift, your surgeon will place an incision along the natural crease of your upper eyelid. They will then remove and reposition excess skin, tissue, and fat.
Lower Eyelid Lift
A lower eyelid lift will begin with an incision either inside the lower eyelid or just below the lash line (transconjunctival and transcutaneous approaches, respectively). (1) From there, your surgeon will remove and reposition excess fat, skin, and tissue. Oftentimes, a laser resurfacing procedure is recommended to further tighten the skin in this area.
Corresponding Procedures
Blepharoplasty can be combined with various other procedures to enhance results, including:
- Facelift: A facelift tightens and lifts sagging facial skin, jowls, and the neck area to create a more youthful overall appearance, complementing the rejuvenation of the eyes.
- Brow lift: A brow lift raises drooping eyebrows and smooths forehead lines, improving the balance between the upper eyelid and brow area.
- Fillers: Many times, eyelid lines and shadows require filling and contouring with injectable fillers such as Restylane, Juvéderm, or a patient’s own fatty tissue.
- Neuromodulators: i.e., Botox is an injectable treatment that works by blocking the neurotransmitter responsible for the repeated muscle contractions that lead to the development of wrinkles and creases. Combining an eyelid lift with Botox can raise the eyebrows or reduce the appearance of wrinkles and crow’s feet.
Recovery
Eyelid lifts are an outpatient procedure, meaning you will return home on the same day. To offer guidance throughout the healing process, we will provide a detailed set of post-operative recovery instructions and have you attend follow-up appointments. Aftercare instructions will include information about how you should clean your incisions, how to manage side effects, and how to navigate your activity restrictions.
Swelling or bruising is normally experienced during the early stages of recovery. These effects will gradually subside on their own; in the meantime, we recommend elevating your head while you recline and being mindful of your movements. You may return to light activities after just a few days; however, you will need to refrain from strenuous or physically demanding tasks until your surgeon approves.
Results
You will be able to experience the results of your eyelid lift after swelling subsides, and enjoy a smoother and more youthful-looking appearance. Your eyes may appear more open, brighter, and more alert, and you may also experience improvements in your field of vision if sagging tissue had previously been an obstruction.
Cost of Eyelid Lifts in Beverly Hills
The cost of your eyelid lift can vary depending on several factors, such as whether you address the upper and/or lower eyelids, the type of corrections, and the extent of correction. Your surgeon will provide a cost estimate for your personalized eyelid lift during your consultation.

FAQ
Will there be any visible scarring after my eyelid lift?
Any scarring will be discreet and barely noticeable after your recovery. Our surgeons take great care when placing each incision, and they may either place them along the natural crease of the eyelids, along the lower lash line, or within the eyelids themselves to minimize visibility.
What does an eyelid lift recovery typically consist of?
After your procedure, you will need to rest for several days to rest before you can return to your career and other light activities. After several weeks, you can start to reintroduce more physically demanding tasks into your routine. During your consultation, your surgeon will provide a full set of post-procedure instructions to guide your recovery.
How long do the results of an eyelid lift last?
The results of an eyelid lift are long-lasting and can last for several years, especially when patients maintain a good skincare routine and healthy lifestyle habits.
Do eyelid lifts have any risks?
Any surgical procedure will come with certain risks, including bleeding, infection, unevenness, dissatisfaction with results, and more. Your surgeon will discuss each risk and how to avoid it during your consultation to ensure you understand each one thoroughly.
Will an eyelid lift affect my vision?
Temporary swelling or bruising may slightly affect your vision immediately after surgery, but long-term changes in vision are extremely rare. Your surgeon will take precautions to protect your eyes throughout the procedure.
Can I combine an eyelid lift with other cosmetic procedures?
Yes, many patients choose to combine eyelid surgery with procedures such as a brow lift, facelift, Botox, or fillers to achieve a more comprehensive facial rejuvenation.
