Facelift

Conveniently located to serve the areas of Beverly Hills, CA

A facelift, or rhytidectomy, is a popular surgical procedure that restores a youthful facial appearance by repositioning soft facial tissues and restoring volume. (1)

Facial aging is an inevitable part of life. Over time, gravity, sun exposure, lifestyle factors, and more can lead to sagging skin, volume loss, and a tired expression that no amount of skincare or lasers can fully correct. Modern facelift surgery provides a powerful solution that restores a smoother, firmer, and more youthful facial appearance. Through advanced techniques, plastic surgeons can sculpt a refreshed, natural-looking result that enhances confidence and harmony.

Located in Beverly Hills and serving patients from all across Los Angeles, the United States, and internationally, Ghavami Plastic Surgery is led by world-renowned plastic surgeons Dr. Ashkan Ghavami. They offer facial rejuvenation procedures that merge science and artistry. Known widely for innovation, precision, and natural outcomes, Dr. Ghavami developed the Regenelift™, a unique regenerative facelift technique that enhances facial rejuvenation on multiple levels.

About Facelifts

At Ghavami Plastic Surgery, our philosophy is to customize every facelift to the individual. Dr. Ghavami uses state-of-the-art techniques to deliver long-lasting results thatpreserve each patient’s unique identity.

Regenelift™

Regenelift™ represents the next evolution in facial rejuvenation. Regenelift™ combines advanced deep-plane and high SMAS lifting techniques with filler, regenerative medicine, growth factors, light, and laser therapies for skin renewal. Unlike traditional facelifts that focus primarily on tightening the skin, Regenelift™ treats facial aging as both a structural and cellular concern. This method lifts the deeper layers of the face while stimulating natural healing and collagen production for longer-lasting, more natural results. (2)

We offer three Regenelift™ variations:

  • Regenelift™ 1 (No Open Facelift Incision): This version minimizes recovery time and avoids visible incisions while tightening the neck and jawline through advanced fat transfer, nanofat grafting, and radiofrequency-assisted sculpting.
  • Regenelift™ 2 (Open Facelift): The second Regenelift™ option provides more comprehensive rejuvenation, targeting the deeper SMAS layer and integrating fat transfer with refined tissue repositioning.
  • Regenelift™ 3 (The Boss Lift): This is the most transformative option. It uses vertical deep-plane lifting, platysmaplasty, regenerative enhancement, and rhinoplasty to dramatically restore youthfulness while maintaining balance and natural expression.

The Mid-Facelift and Other Facelift Variations

While a traditional facelift addresses the lower face and neck, the mid-facelift focuses on the area between the lower eyelids and the corners of the mouth. Aging in this region often manifests as hollow cheeks, nasolabial folds, and a fatigued look. The mid-facelift restores youthful lift to the cheeks, smooths facial folds, and repositions drooping tissue for a refreshed, balanced appearance. (4) An added benefit of this is the lateral eyebrow elevation that many patients appreciate as the whole midface and eye get a refresher.

At Ghavami Plastic Surgery, we perform the mid-facelift endoscopically through small, hidden incisions behind the hairline. This technique allows precise elevation and reshaping of facial fat pads and ligaments (3,4) while minimizing downtime. We can also combine it with fat transfer, nanofat grafting, or laser resurfacing to refine texture and tone. For younger patients or those with early signs of aging, a mid-facelift offers powerful rejuvenation without the need for a full traditional facelift.

In addition to mid-facelifts, Dr. Ghavami offers high SMAS, deep-plane, and short-scar facelifts (5) to adapt to individual anatomy and goals. Their approach avoids excessive tension on the skin and instead focuses on the deeper support layers, creating results that are elegant, smooth, and lasting.

Candidates

Dr. Ghavami carefully evaluates each patient’s facial anatomy, skin quality, and expectations to determine their candidacy for a facelift, as well as the most suitable technique for their concerns. However, ideal candidates include those who:

  • Notice sagging or laxity in the midface, lower face, and/or neck
  • Have jowls or diminished jawline definition
  • Experience volume loss/hollows in the cheeks or under-eye region
  • Seek natural-looking rejuvenation that enhances facial harmony
  • Are in good overall health and maintain realistic expectations
  • Prefer a long-lasting solution over temporary treatments

During your personal consultation, Dr. Ghavami will recommend whether Regenelift™, a mid-facelift, or a combination approachbest suits your desired outcome.

During this private appointment, Dr. Ghavami will listen carefully to your goals, assess facial structure, and design a detailed and personalized treatment plan. Preparation

Both of our board-certified plastic surgeons, Dr. Ghavami, will provide personalized preparation guidelines to help you prepare for surgery. These may include recommendations to stop smoking, avoid certain medications that increase bleeding risk, and maintain a nutrient-rich diet. We will also recommend that you arrange transportation and post-procedure support. Following these preparatory steps closely will support a smooth, comfortable healing experience.

Results

Results from a facelift or Regenelift™ procedure become increasingly visible as swelling subsides over the following days and weeks. Patients enjoy tighter, smoother skin, improved jawline definition, symmetry, (6) and a restored sense of youthfulness. Because we often integrate regenerative therapies into the process, results and skin texture continue to improve for months as collagen rebuilds. Many patients maintain their results for many years with proper skincare.

Recovery

Facelift recovery istypically smooth and well-supported. Patients can expect swelling and mild bruising in the first week; these will fade on their own gradually. Most patients return to light activities within 10 to 14 days, with full recovery depending on the complexity of the procedure. Regenelift™ variations with fewer incisions often allow faster healing. Dr. Ghavami provides detailed aftercare instructions to each patient, including head elevation, gentle massage, and nutritional guidance to support optimal results.

Corresponding and Combination Procedures

In addition to our advanced facelift techniques, many patients undergo procedures either separately or in conjunction with their facelift for more complete results, which can include:

Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)

We can perform eyelid surgery alongside a facelift to rejuvenate the upper and lower eyelids, reducing puffiness and sagging for a more rested appearance.

Brow Lift

A brow lift complements a facelift by elevating the forehead and brow area, smoothing wrinkles, and restoring balance between the upper and lower face. Our team understands the nuances of the corrugator supercilii muscle and its bony landmarks, enabling safer, more precise, and symmetric muscle modification, enhancing forehead rejuvenation while minimizing risk to nerves. Fat Transfer and Nanofat Therapy

Combining fat transfer or nanofat grafting with a facelift can enhance facial volume and skin quality, improving texture and youthful contour.

FAQ

What makes Regenelift™ different from a traditional facelift?

Regenelift™ integrates regenerative techniques such as nanofat, growth factors, and laser therapy with deep-plane lifting to create natural results that continue to improve as the skin heals and rejuvenates. Dr. Ghavami founded and refined this proprietary procedure as a way to provide patients with even more stunning facelift results.

How long do facelift results last?

Results can last ten years or longer, depending on lifestyle, genetics, and skincare habits. The regenerative benefits of Regenelift™ techniques may extend longevity by enhancing skin health from within and certain maintenance laser resurfacing procedures every couple of years.

Is facelift recovery painful?

Discomfort is generally mild and managed with prescribed medication during the early stages of recovery. Dr. Ghavami uses meticulous techniques to ensure minimal swelling and bruising.

When will I see my facelift results?

Oftentimes, the patients are thrilled and can appreciate the changes once the surgical dressing is removed. Initial improvements are visible once swelling subsides, with full refinement taking shape gradually. If regenerative techniques are part of your procedural plan, your skin texture and tone will continue to improve for months as collagen production increases.

Can I combine a facelift with nonsurgical treatments?

Yes. Treatments such as Botox, dermal fillers, or laser rejuvenation can complement surgical results and maintain long-term improvement. Dr. Ghavami takes a holistic approach to facelifts, recommending procedures that can enhance your results other than surgical techniques.

How do I know which type of facelift will be best for me?

This depends on your goals and the degree of facial sagging you are experiencing. During your consultation, Dr. Ghavami will analyze your facial anatomy and aging pattern to recommend the technique that achieves your goals with minimal downtime.
